Academy Director – Update

Dear all,

We hope you are all safe and well.

This week, our u18s have returned training in small groups while adhering to social distancing guidelines advised by the EFL. Hopefully, the u18s will progress to Stage 2 contact training next week, providing there are no issues with Stage 1 training this week.

We are working with the club and EFL to ensure we can bring the remaining age groups back to training as safely, and as soon as possible.

We haven’t got our own training centre so its makes things difficult compared to other clubs who have their own facility. We use a few different venues across Swindon, so these venues will all have to be risk assessed and the correct procedures put in place and sent to the EFL for confirmation, before the remaining younger age groups return to training.

As mentioned in a previous update, the weekend of Oct 3rd/4th has been identified as the planned/potential start date for the schoolboy games programme. We would like to resume schoolboy training at least a few weeks before the proposed schoolboy games start.

These proposed return dates are subject to change and should not be assumed as a definitive return to training and the games programme.

We are doing our best to bring all the academy age groups back to training, but the main priority is making sure the environment/venues are all safe for the staff and players before they return to training.

We haven’t got a set date to return to training yet, but if you could please be patient and bear with us, we hope to have all the boys back training soon. As soon as we are in a position to confirm a date to you for returning to train, we will let you know immediately.

Kind Regards

Seamus Brady
Academy Director
